WRITING PROFILE
REVISION FEATURE
One of assignments for the Writing Practices Minor Capstone course is a revision project. Students take an old piece and they adapt it to an entirely new genre, making whatever changes and revisions necessary.

For this assignment, I chose to rework one of my earliest undergraduate research papers. It was a paper on female representation in video games, analyzing the quantity and quality of female playable characters in video games over the years, and the social impact that representation might have.
Looking back on the original paper four years later is very much like finding an old embarrassing photo: cringe-inducing, yes, but oddly charming and even nostalgic. The original is clumsy, chaotic, and riddled with syntax errors.

I made a strong effort to repair the mistakes, but I quickly realized that the paper needed a complete reframing. I chose to turn my shaky research paper in an op-ed piece. It would address the same issue, but from a perspective more informed by experience in writing, research, and life.

So here is the result: Achievement Unlocked: A Call for Better Representation of Women in Video Games
